blues master

Post by pamaz67 »

Hello Guys.
I am curious to know if somebody has given a try at the blues master circuit that has been shown here for a few days and promptly removed.
I'm just curious to know , just because I'm thinking to try it in the next future, although so far I've not examined the circuitry with the proper attention.
One of my thoughts was that the guy who posted the schemo was making a joke to all of us.......... :))

Thanks and Merry Xmas to all of you.

I as able to pick up a copy of this as well, and also posted the values on my excel sheet on this forum a while back.
I sent a number of schematics to an overseas builder a while back, and here is his response to the different cirucits:

"The Sonny Landreth and the Blues master mod are quite buzzy at high gain settings, but the lower gain settings are great at high volume. The bluesmaster mod gave me sort of a Billy Gibbons sound: asymmetrical clipping but very bright and buzzy. I have some doubts about the 1n cap at OD1. I think it is small. On the other hand will the loss of bass work great live and I think these amps only work great in a live setting. I was quite amused by the combination of a dumble preamp and a marshall power stage. I have done this for a friend about a half year ago and we are still very pleased with the results! I used 100k, 1.5k values in the preamp and 6L6 power tubes.

I noticed that the OD2 for the HRM stage uses a 5uF cothode cap. I also use this and I feel it works beter than the 1uF cap recommended at the forum. I think the lows should be controlled with the coupling caps and the cathode bypass caps can be large. I use 25uf for CL1 and CL2 without a farty bass and 5uf for the OD stages. " Jelle Welagen

Err... Not really. I have a switch on OD2 for 1uf, 1.5uf, and 5uf. In HRM mode, 1uf is best to my ears. I agree with Jelle regarding non HRM.

Hi scott,

I have tried the different values there as well and since I'm using a modified OD entrance network I like higher values for the bypass caps. Please note that there is a decoupling cap in these schematics that reduces bass after the plate of v2B before the signal enters the HRM stack. To prevent fartyness in the OD stages, I'm using a OD entrance that reduces bass a bit. I think it is another way to get similar results.

Hey, it works for me! I'd be very interested to see degooped pics of a HRM dumble to find out what is going on in there....
