Its been a while with my 2 quinns, and I can report that just like when I had the Dumble, these amps just grow on you more and more. Every time I plug in I can a huge smile on my face, just by bending a few notes. I recently bought another PRS (Modern Eagle Quatro) and its another great match with Dumble style amps. PRSs seem to match so well with them. Anyway, here is a poorly recorded clip, but one in which the tone of the Quinn is off the charts for what I like in Dumbles. The Quatro into the Quinn... http://www.soundclick.com/player/single ... i&newref=1
Tga, he was asking about preamps too. The real 183 had the GE shortplate 12AX7s fwiw. I even tested them for TC and MU. So, I know exactly what was in the real deal should anyone want to try what it was running.

Thats correct Scott. I tried the GEs in my Quinn (12Ax7s) and found little difference so I went back to the Russians. I tried winged cs for power tubes, but back to the stock ones I went. In the original 183, I tried everything in the preamp slots, but the GEs sounded best.
