Voltage regulator legs

Post by Tdale »

I can't see any numbers/symbols on the 5V voltage regulators I got from Mouser. I know the middle one is common/ground but what is input and output? I found an illustration where it looks like the left leg is input, if the metal part of the body is on the back-side..

am I correct?

You need to go to the mouser site or search on the part itself. Mouser makes data sheets available for most stuff. At the home page, search on the exact mouser number you ordered or LM317, for example. It should bring up a table that has a column with the Acrobat symbol. There might be a page you can pull up and should be a Data Sheet.

Hi Tommy:
I'm using Fairchild 7806. Facing the front, left is #1, center is #2 and right is #3.

1=input
2=ground (connected to the tab)
3=output

Good luck
