Ha ha...oh yes......we ALL have had something go out in to the wild that is a prototype or whatever....and it's easy to simply say 'why did they let that one out' and quite often the answer is 'They/We didn't'. I had a situation where I built an amp for someone, it was a prototype...actually the very first OD-2 prototype. This thing was modded and modded and modded and modded again. It looked like all hell inside...not quite as bad as this one...but the Fenders of this era are messy to start with anyway. Well.....the guy agreed that if he ever wanted to get rid of the OD-2 prototype he would sell it back to me..........well he didn't...he sold it at a wicked inflated price as the very first OD-2 to some other dude....now it's out there......
Don't get me wrong, it's safe and sounds good, but any amp builder will tell you, there's only so many tiomes you can modify an anp extensively before it starts to look a bit ragged around the edges.

Clearly, I have no connection with TR at all, but it's not fair for anyone to pass judgement when there could be a reason it got out in to the wild when it maybe wasn't even destined for that. Things happen in business you sometimes don't always have control over. People lie, people rip you off. I'm sure most folk on here have seen pics inside other TR amps. It's clear they all don't look like this. Trust me I have NOTHING to gain by defending TR, not even a friendship.....but fairs fair.

The Twin Reverb is actually a very good experimentation platform for certain things...I have one in my shop I've used for many experiments.

I'm sure Andy knows exactly the guy I'm talking about here and has probably had a similar experience with the same guy.

My 69 Twin sounds glorious as is with it's stock Oxfords (Oxfarts to some) and mostly all stock RCA tubes from 69. Yeah, you can butcher these into something else, but why not say MV era Fenders as those were very sloppy and often brittle and harsh. The 69 Twins were really the last of the good Twins.
Eardrums!!! We don't need no stinkin' eardrums!

I had a JBL Labled 69' Twin - but the JBL's were sold off before I bought it  - So the magic wasn't there like it should have been-

:-) I wish I could afford to re-buy the amp with original speakers ! 8)
