I am interested on a 8ohm speaker but there are 2 issues I am concerned about
1) there is something which looks like a drop of water on the paper
2) the resistance reading is rather low

Should these be points of concern sonically?

That resistance reading isn't 'low' Remember speakers are 8ohms impedance, not resistance. That's just the static resistance at hte frequency the DMM works at, and doesn't account for inductance etc that creates the reactance part of the speaker.

That spot on the speaker to me looks like it could be a repair that was done, but not sure. The speaker cone can be repaired and work fine, but it depends on the size of the repair and location, etc. The only way to know would be to hear the speaker in use. Are you thinking of buying this one? If so, I'd make sure you can return it if it sounds meh, that cone may be fine, or may sound horrid.

Yes I am interested in buying this speaker but just concerned with the “drop” on the cone.

This is what the seller is saying

It has a small aesthetic blemish from a drop of water my friend annoyingly didn't leave to dry naturally.

Yeah dunno, hard to say, if it's not through the cone, it means that part of the cone is potentially weaker and after use may pop/tear. I'm no expert on that kind of damage, so I may be completely up in the night though.

Maybe someone like Scumback Speakers will chime in with real world experience on that.

From the photo, that looks like a significant tear!

If it was a water stain, it would stain, not have the cone paper tear or rip, which is what I see in the OP's pic.

If the offering price was cheap enough, I'd just patch the damaged area. I'm sure there are lots of suggestions our members could make. I use hemp rolling paper, with Elmer's white glue, slightly watered down. You have to be very careful because wet cone paper falls apart very easily.

The seller is actually selling expensive. GBP 120 for these EVM speakers...I decided to pass
