One is the Eminence Wizard. Has anybody here tried it with an Express or Rocket? I have played a Carr amp with this speaker (1/12 open back) and liked the overall detail, bass/mid/top.
Next: The Celestion Creamback G12H-75. I just heard a pair of these in a sealed (very small) 2/12 box with my Rocket and thought they sounded pretty good in the mids and top. The small cab DID make the bass a bit muffy and easily overdone (if you weren't careful) but I am wondering about an open back cab? It was different than a V30, that I can say, which gives me hope.
Anybody have an experience with either of these in an open back cab? Thanks.

Two speakers, any experience here?

Re: Two speakers, any experience here?
Update on the Wizard: No.
This speaker is bite-y and edgy, pretty much a wrong speaker for any kind of music I make. From my experience the speaker displayed a strange physical characteristic, as well. It's rearward extension was about 1/8" and the forward extension was more than 3/8" (tested using gentle finger pressure). I sent it to Eminence for an examination and they said it was normal for this speaker......which was a total surprise to me as I've never run into a well built speaker that behaved like this. The good news is that I can return it once it comes back from Kentucky.
I will also add that Eminence is a very customer service oriented company and paid for the shipping to and from Kentucky. They were also super polite, informative, and honest throughout our email exchanges. A great organization, IMO, despite our differences on this particular speaker. Their take on the speaker, BTW, is that this physical behavior is by design. OK.
Anyway, I'm going to pick up Celestion Gold and get on with it.

I don't know how it would be for your application, but I really like the Cannabis Rex in a small 1*12 combo and in a 1*12 closed back cabinet. It just seems to have a smooth tone. I can imagine that it would be something to try in a 2*12 and a Rocket or Express.
What?
Re: Two speakers, any experience here?
Jana, thanks for that suggestion. Right now I am 'off' the Eminence product, They make some worthy stuff, IMO, but the Wizard has got me to thinking.
I actually had a blown vintage G-12 65 that I am sending the ASW for a recone. They have something they call an RT66 speaker that uses a large dust cap like the G-12 65. And I have also made a turn in the road on the Celestion Gold. Instead I will get the 75 watt Creamback they are offering. I hear it is quite good all around. I'll let you know.
