Bluesbreaker Style Cab

Post by NickC »

I picked up a raw cab on eBay, and dressed it in tolex, white piping, and wheat grill cloth. Not perfect, but hey .... it's only rock-n-roll.

EVM12L speaker in each cab.

I hope you glued the wires good.

Oh yes, I used plenty of Elmers™ to hold those 24 gauge wires together.

Fingers X-ed the baffle can take the EV and that the backboard is not in too close a proximity of the speaker, seeing it's closed back.

The baffle and backboard are 1/2" baltic birch ply. Depth of cabinet is 10.5", which is 1" deeper than the present day Marshall Bluesbreaker RI combo amp cab. The construction is very solid.

It sounds good at low volume. No rattles, and not boomy. Haven't had a chance to really crank it up yet.

If it booms you can try a stressed brace from back of magnet to cab back.

Similar to the 4x12 brace.
