Vox AC10 Twin Cabinet plans?

Post by LeftyStrat »

Anyone have plans or dimensions for the Vox AC10 Twin?

I know the outer dimensions are supposed to be 24" W x 18" H x 9" D.

I have plans for the Vox AC30 cabinet (attached). I suppose I could scale things from the AC30.

If I were doing it, I wouldn't sweat too much about the exact dimensions. As you know, a 10" board is really 9.25". Just go with that in 1" (really 0.75") thick lumber and I predict it will work out just fine. An 8' board is 96" and after you square it properly it still has enough for you to cut the 4 boards you'll need for the basic box. If you are going for a pair of 10" speakers, I think you'll do just fine with a 24" wide baffle (easy multiple for standard 4' x 8' ply) and I'd shoot for building around that dimension. For a 24" baffle, the outside cab width will be 25.5", which is just a hair smaller than the AC30 cab and nearly consistent with what you report are the correct dimensions. OK, that's my 2 cents!

OK...a quick search turns up photos here:
http://www.thevoxac30guide.com/vintage_ ... ction1.htm about 25% of the way down. There is enough visual information in these pictures, based on the speaker diameter to estimate the correct size of the cabinet. This is for a single speaker.

Thanks Phil. That and the out dimensions should get me there.

His email is at the top of the page. It's worth asking if he will measure and send you a few detail pictures.

Unfortunately, I realized that AC10 in his page is a single speaker AC10. I'm looking for the 'Twin' which was a 2x10.

I think I'll still email him, he has probably come across one.

Took a while to get this scanned as I've no ink and guess what happens w/ your HP all in one printer when it has no ink?

If you still need, this might help. I did this 20+ years ago so I've no idea how accurate I was being. On the other hand it has the centering for the logo  I know it looks like like a 6 year-old did it but it was a very quick sketch, ok?
