Nope, but it looks to me like its made by WGS, now the hyperbolic threads can jump into full swing lol

I'm also curious about the silk and cotton covered wire. I can go both sides on the plastic insulation debate, but I'm curious as to how the silk and cotton hold up in climates that are damp. If you had wires over lapping or twisted together such as heater wires. (19awg 6-4) in a wet climate like Seattle where everything is damp would the cotton be prone to absorbing moisture? and if so how much until it could arch and start causing problems?

I like the natural hi freq roll off but my internal red flag goes off about the practical application.

they are as close a clone to the original Jensen as you can find. Gorgeous things!

My friend does testing for them, and he says the speakers are unbelievable. Definitely the best option for the Jensen sound, besides a vintage Jensen

Milkmansound, I saw that you use a 15" Sica speaker in your amps. Which speaker is it?

"ASSY BY WGS" on the motor. The WGS G12C retails for $76, their 12LC version for $110, but it has been sprinkled with invisible faery dust.

Well, one assumption, it does say 'assy by wgs' on the label. But I'm with fyl there's just too much of this stuff now. The WGS G12C is supposedly "awesome" from the internet talk, I'm thinking of buying one and I'd assume it's the very best C12N copy wgs can make, right? So what's the Jupiter one - mo' better? I notice this contradiction with the tsunami of tiered retro stuff or even new stuff coming at me, notably with Fender and Gibson and Martin etc who make 30 types of the same model guitar. If the GE hide glue Adirondack D28 is the best martin can make then whats the normal D28 - Chopped liver? Same with a $5G CS Strat, if that's the best fender can make then the $1200 one must be that much worse, and the $600 one must be crap. That's how I read it. How they expect you to read it is that the magic mojo trickles down throughout the line from the 5K custom shop down to the $600 MIM. But I see it backwards, the BS trickles up - but I'm a cranky old fart.

Leo made one Strat, one Tele, one Mustang, each the very best he could make. Old Gibson made one LP, one 335, one Melody Maker all the best it could make. Old Martin offered one D28, one D18 - all the best it could make...

On the other hand as an easy going friend says, "it's all good"... but he might be on Prozac.

And, I'd still like to try one of the Jupiters.

Oh I agree with the BS trickles up, I've spent enough time around audiophools to know that!

I also agree with the "it's all good". IMHO, I don't like things claiming to be "the best XXX clone out there". I'm running into the same thing now that Scumback and Weber have parted ways and Scumback is going to have someone else make their "best pre-rola clones" out there, but Weber is now selling their Legacy speakers...which were Scumbacks old ones. Ugh.

Right now, I'd be super happy if a guitar store had a speaker demo setup like you see in the car stereo department at stores. Have a whole bunch of 12" drivers in equal cabinets with a big switcher box. You bring your own amp and plug in and just switch between speakers till you find the sound you're looking for (yes I understand that cabinets also make a huge difference in tone, but this would be a big step forward for us speaker addicts who buy one of everything to get a sample/idea of tone)

I use the 15" Premium Lite 350W for the steel amp. Maybe not the best choice if you are building an amp for guitar but good lord its a beautiful speaker for pedal steel!

They are made by WGS to Chris's spec. It's a Jupiter speaker, put together by WGS - that's why it's more expensive. So no, it's not the same as a WGS designed speaker. As far as I know.

The cotton and silk covered wire is not for amp building, it's for hi fi stuff. I asked Chris about the wire when I talked to him about his caps and the speakers and he said not to worry about it. I'll stick with the cloth covered stuff from Mojo for now.

It looks good! Really high quality construction - definitely what I expected from Chris at Jupiter. Stay tuned...

As mentioned already.....what does your post mean.?
These speakers are assembled by Warehouse Guitar Speakers. Do they do a better/different job of assembling a speaker with a Jupiter sticker on it than they do a speaker with their own sticker on the back.?

from what I understand Chris designed the speaker, and has WGS assemble it for him. They are built to his spec which is different than the stock WGS speaker.

I finally tried it out today. It sounds good - definitely needs to break in though. The only speaker I have on hand to compare it to at the moment is a Weber, and even with the stiff cone the Jupiter had more low end and sounded smoother on top to my ear.

I don't think there is any magic dust or kool aid involved. Jupiter is one of my vendors and I like his caps a lot - I like the speaker too. If it sounds like an old Jensen and saves me from taking my chances on Ebay and saves me time I'll go for it. If it has a warranty, even better.
