"Stretch"! It's right there in the name! Canvas stretching tutorials are valuable for grille cloth; look at Google Images results for "how to stretch canvas".

You know what's funny xtian, I just stretched the grill clothe with a pair of vice grip sheet metal benders! Looks like I was on the right track. I think I might make something that can anchor to the wood, and stretch an entire side at once. That would be awesome. Especially if It could anchor both sides at once so the grill clothe wont slip.

I clamp two pieces of wood [one straight the other a 'L' section built from two pieces] a few inches wider than the grill cloth with several vise grip pliers fro gripage. Push down on the 'L' section with my hand. When I stretch jute based stuff I tie a loop to the ends of the wood and step on it to get more stretch leverage.

I put a couple of screws in the baffle to keep it still.

I have a pic somewhere but I can't find it.

That sounds like a good technique.

I just stretched some salt n pepper for the first time. I think I'm going to try and slide a piece of .25" thick wood through the speakers hole to stretch the cloth even more, and keep it from rattling against the baffle.

Some amps have a border around the baffle with a 1' x .25" or so to lift the grill off the baffle.

Another trick on cloth grill cloth is if it isn't as tight as you would like, spray some fine water mist on the cloth and use a hair dryer on low heat to dry the cloth, it will shrink and become tighter.

I've done this on Vox cloth and Oxblood.

I was reading a post from scumback and that's what gave me the idea. Only to put the border in afterwards to help stretch it more.

That is awesome. I wonder how well it works with salt n pepper grill clothe.

I have this problem with my 4x10 I recovered with salt and pepper, that might be a good solution :)

You have to be concerned with sympathetic vibrations when adding pieces of wood unless they are glued or screwed.

Cabinets can be funny creatures when high sound pressure levels are produced.

I was planning on either contact cement, or screwing them in from the inside.

$200 sound right for a finished dumble head cab?

$250 for a 2×12?

In case I want to make some for sale at a later date.

I am actually doing these as payment for some wood working tools and an epiphone.

I really like the woodwork great way to get some joints.

I spent days making a box joint jig and trying to get my dado stack width correct, what a pain. :D

Thanks Mark!

I have the 2x12 tolexed, just have to do the back and the head cab and ill be done. Although I have ran out of nice 2 leg nickel corners so it wont be completely finished for a little while.

I've been thinking about making me a finger joint jig for at home, But I might just buy one. Hell might even laser out a metal one.
