The rocket build I did earlier this year was a successful build, at least to my ears. It does pretty much everything I want it to do. Yet, in the continual quest for better/different tone and some functionality, I decided to take the rocket preamp section and merge it with bigger bottle power section. Over course this is nothing new or earth shattering. However, I wanted to try it for myself and see what comes of it. Much thanks to RJ, Rooster, Fishy, Dartanion, Normster, for fielding my questions that were too stupid/novice to post! Anyway, here are some pics of the progress. I’m almost done. Just need to wire the pots, AC, and a few other things.
Sweetly done Rawn, sweetly done. I like your layout and lead dress, very systematic. Can't wait to see it in its cabinet. Are you building the cab yourself? Is that one of RJ's chassis?

Yeah, RJ's chassis. The cab is getting built by Peter at mathercab.com.
I love(d) my Rocket 2x12 combo. It was excellent, now belongs to a friend. I would love to have tried a one tube reverb in there. I'm building a 5E3 out of a hammond and might try it in this build.
How close together are your output sockets? I think KT66 needs more room from center to center for heat dissipation. If RJ cut the chassis though i'm sure it's adequate since he's done these before..

I'd be interesrted in the fat/bright switch, and how you insert the reverb into the PI.....?
I knew someone would ask for it.
I just fired up the amp about an hour ago. Got sound, the good kind! I need to check voltages and such to make sure all is stable. Also, after hearing it, it needs a few component tweaks in the fat/bright section and other places. The reverb is a little too subtle too. I need to figure out what's going on there. Let me tinker a bit and get things fixed so that I'll be able to share something somewhat presentable.
