Hammond trannys for an Express?

Post by Normster »

Will Hammond trannys work OK in an Express build? If so, can I use a 35 watt OPT instead of a 40 watt? (The 35 watt is quite a bit less expensive.) Here are the specs:
P-T1650G
TRANSFORMER, OUTPUT, PUSH-PULL, HAMMOND, 35 WATT
Audio Watts (RMS): 35
Primary Impedance (Ohms): 6,600 CT
Maximum DC per side (mA): 200
Secondary Impedance (Ohms): 3.5/8/16/250/500

P-T1650H
TRANSFORMER, OUTPUT, PUSH-PULL, HAMMOND, 40 WATT
Audio Watts (RMS): 40
Primary Impedance (Ohms): 6,600 CT
Maximum DC per side (mA): 200
Secondary Impedance (Ohms): 4/8/16

Also, is this the correct PT?
P-T272JX
TRANSFORMER, POWER, HAMMOND, 300-0-300 V, 250 mA
Primary 115 VAC, 60 Hz.
Secondary DC current measured with cap. input filter, full wave (two diode) C.T., rectifier circuit.
Secondary: 300-0-300 V, 250 mA
Filament winding 1: 5 V, 4 A
Filament winding 2: 6.3 V, 8 A

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Yep, I use 372JX and 1650G in Medusa.

I built mine with the Hammond 272JX PT and got the OT from Moose. I think he is located in your area so it would not cost you a bunch is shipping.
