Dumble Step filters on an Express
There has been a lot of talk over on the Dumble discussion on the SSS and dumbleland models and their use of the step filters. Has anyone here ever thought about messing with resistor and cap values after the volume, and either before the tube or after? I am interested in knowing if the high frequencies are more affected by being filtered before the tube or after, and also the same for the low frequencies. I wonder if this would be able to make the wreck have a broader voice? There have been a few reports on SSS' that will breakup if the volume is all the way up. Maybe this is headed in a more TW direction.

Re: Dumble Step filters on an Express
Just a thought but if I was gonna do that I'd probably experiment with just 2 gain stages with a step filter for the lows and a Rocket-style Cut control for the highs. Kinda like the EF86 channel of either a Matchless or Dr. Z (can't remember which...maybe they both have done it) but with two 12AX7 stages instead of one EF86 stage.
Just my opinion but I would lean towards cutting the bass early in the path and cutting treble late.
