first post, question about speaker for express

Hi,

It's my first post so hello everybody. I'm planning to build a trainwreck express and I wondered if there would be a significant difference between celestion vintage 30 and greenback. I'm asking cause there's some kind of sale in there so a chance to buy them cheaper then usually, but I won't be able to finish my amp before sale ends.

Hoping you can give me a piece of advice.

Also, I don't exactly stick to the part list, I mean I'm gonna use some different brands and types of parts mostly because they are hard to get here in Poland. I'm considering an oversee shopping but price of shipping + tax discourage me a bit.

Get the Greenbacks and forget about V30s. Greenbacks come in different varieties though, but you can't really go wrong with them. UK made variety being favored.

V30s have a high mid peak that's like a dental drill to my ears. Hard and painful. Wrecks are voiced for lead and cut through a mix well, however playing it by itself can sound bright and a V30 will only make that more apparent and harsh. I'm not sure why so many people love V30s as I get ear fatigue after a few minutes with these.

Greenbacks are great speakers with an Express, but there are lots of other options out there and only your ears will tell you what's best.

You could go half and half...

Then either enjoy the combination, or buy the ones you like more. (selling the "sale" ones for funding)

I don't like V30's too much either but the combination of them with greenbacks is a favorite of many.
