New KF-50 Done tonight...this ones mine!!!

Post by Allynmey »

Just finished the last solder joint on my new KF-50

this one features a s.s. switcher to fix the fast/gradual useless switch that Komet puts in their amps courtesy of Dana...woohoo! See if you can see the differences. I think this will make the switch usable in a gigging situation. I will finish my footswitch tomorrow. I used a Cliffs Stereo jack so it would match the amps back panel jacks. This one is going in a Bubinga/Maple cabinet that Distortions made for me last year.

Great job Allyn! I always enjoy your amp porn. Does this one have the tube rectifier under the small boards? Do the 5volt filaments power your SS device? This switching idea should be so much more useable. The maple/bubinga cab sounds friggin' regal! Did you score a lot of those PEC looking pots? Want to sell any?

Really nice Allyn. As always.
I really like the switching system.
Is it quiet enough?
Which switch did you use for this purpose?
Any impact on the dynamical behaviour?
Thanks

Hi Allyn,

fantastic as usual!!!!!!!!!
How does it sound respect to your express? I remember that I read somewhere that these monsters don't clean up as well as the express.

Beautiful workmanship.

Too much going on there that I don't understand (yet).

Allyn

Nice. I like the use of the 'old' and the 'new' in this one. And I certainly like that you've been forced to use of a pair of caps before the solid-state switch, which I think should have been in the amp in the first place.

What solid-state switch did you settle on?

Looks friggin' AWESOME Allyn!!!

Again, another superb build. I want to build myself a Komet at some point. The builds I can relish right now is my kitchen plumbing and door hanging :?

Allyn, your new amp looks great. I really like the footswitch capability.
It is nice that old cabinet is finally going to get an occupant...
