OT/PT's for express

Post by riscado »

What is available, I know some people use hammond, other use old stancors they buy of ebay, others have them custom wound, other buy heyboer or toneslut (which ends up being the same), others choose moose (which I was never able to find a website for)...

What comes closer to the iron used in an express... and if possible could someone tell me how to check moose's range of products, a website or something, I've searched and found nothing.

thanks

are they any close to what Ken used? And is there any other transformer that might come closer on the market?

Mooses/TSs trannies have been used by a bunch of folks who've had very good results. Ruby's are different in at least one aspect, and understand his have worked pretty good too.

I think that Heyboer is the only way to go. I believe Ken used them at some point and I think their the best Trans you can get for Exspress. When you consider the prices and quality you can't go wrong. But that is my opinoin though. Chad

Mine are Heyboer, same as Moose, except I only have 5.2k primaries and I have my PTs made with either 300VAC or 250VAC (only one set of HV taps per PT).

Call 'em up. They usually answer the phone.

I might have guessed. I've gotten an e-mail quote from them but then never bought. They may get tired of that.

If they don't respond via e-mail PM somebody here and they can make the call for you. Ya know, Funkalicousgroove here on the board deals with them with some pretty big orders. Maybe PM him for some help.

Hey thanks I'll try your sugestion, because I'm really getting ready to order, but would like to know for sure wether they will be able to suply me the following:

-tweed super/bandmaster open frame OT
-express OT
-240V primary express PT

I'm making a list of material even as we speak, so I guess I'll wait one more week and then I'll follow your advice... thanks

Rates via jajah [http://www.jajah.com] or Skype [http://www.skype.com] are usually around 3 or 4 cents a minute.
With skype, you download the software and call from your PC using a microphone and speakers/headphones. Jajah allows you to go to a website and enter your number and the number you want to call. It then calls you first, and once you answer it dials the other party so you both talk on a regular phone. There might be a minimum of 5 or 10 dollars, in which case it might not be worth it. Then again, I don't think your minutes expire (don't quote me on that though) so you could save them for later. Just putting it out there.

Heyboer can definitely supply a 240V Express PT. I had them wind me a couple with a pair of 120V primaries so you could use them in parallel or series to get 120/240V. If you want the Express OT (or indeed just a 120V Express PT) it would be good form to get it through Moose here (Toneslut) as he lays out his own cash to bulk order these and offer them at good prices.

Heyboer and Moose are both great to deal with, but it may take a short while to get answers to your emails from Heyboer as they're likely to be winding stuff.
