This is the same beat test backing track I've been using for years. The difference is that I swapped in a G12H30 into my Rivera Silent Sister ISO Cab. Also, I've settled on some JJ ECC83MG's in V1-2, and a Baldwin labeled Sylvania in V3. I also have JJ EL34L's.
The amp is run through a Rivera Rock Crusher attenuator without the Warm or Edge EQ. I did sound tests at -20db, which you can do anytime of night, and -8db which is pretty loud even with the ISO Cab on my bed. The difference was virtually undetectable, and is insignificant when you can run the amp at -20db and not have to worry about pissing off anyone on the other side of the wall. I tried -3db for a minute, but I'm afraid of blowing the speaker, and it's just to loud in the room. Attenuator bypassed? Forget about it...
The heavy guitars go for a bar so you can hear how it sits in the mix. Then I come in with a wanky lead on top; same EQ settings. Hold out till the end where I do some rollbacks to show how good the amp cleans up with a Split Neck Humbucker. Then a splash of Chorus.
That's quite a gut on that kitty !
Your amp and playing is mighty good as well.
Could you not get the Sylvania to settlen down for v1 or do you just prefer the jjs ?
That's what happens when you take their stones away..
Anyhoo, all Sylvania's seem to be to gainy and mushy in my amp; making it hard to get clean on the rollback. The MG's bring it down a bit. My amp is a little different from a KF built Wreck..
Sweet build man! Yes Sylvanias are higher gain and can tend to be microphinic or bring out microphinics from in the amp.at least he ones I've encountered . I like them in the 2203 type circuit kicks things up a notch.
That was awesome, really, probably the best clip ive heard here. You really showed the full range of what that amp is capable of doing.I really enjoyed that ,you are a very talented player. Thanks ,Mikey

Thanks. The rhythms are dry, but the lead has a little delay on it. I added some chorus to the last few seconds or so. All stock Cubase effects in the computer.

Thanks so much. Its taken a long time to get the amp to this point. Most of all because its so loud; its not always practical to have a wide open amp going while you tweek.
I had stability issues to work out in the beginning to. The picture isn't exactly how the amp sits right now, but its pretty close. I just wanted to share the different layout with everyone.
Unless you have your own studio out in the woods or a cool band practice spot, an ISO Cab and an Attenuator at kinda mandatory for an amp like this I think.

Great playing and I loved how you showed how to use the clean to mean.
You can safely run the rockcrusher on the first -3 db. Its actually cutting 8 dbs then 3 db there after but a 10 db gap between -20 and studio. That's with a 8ohm setting. Not sure if 16 ohm has the same db reduction effect.
I safely run my dimed 50 watt 1987 into a single Greenback RI on the first setting

Nothing cleans up like a Trainwreck..
But I'm glad it's working for you at -3db. A 50 watt amp is damn loud.. I don't think I could get away with it!
But on that note, isn't the Express really like 35 watts or something because it's only running the power tubes at around 400VDC?
