Recommend a cheap(er) impedence selector switch?
I was going to use a Marshall one but those dang things are $22!!!
Is there a cheaper one that I can use that's still good quality. If it's from mouser or some other place a part number would be awesome.

how about this one towards the bottom? Looks good and reasonably priced at $9.00 each.

another option is to forego a switch altogether and use jacks for the different impedance taps like on some boogies.

I've used the switch from Hoffman on a few builds and it seems to work really well. Its well worth the 9.00.
Thanks,

Ted Weber has one that sells for six or seven dollars that works great... I used it in my Express clone.
Re: Recommend a cheap(er) impedence selector switch?
I just scored 2 of these NOS imp switches like the one Ken used on Franchesca. They were $6.50 each. wooohoo! The supplier only had two left and has now marked them as obsolete. The original was made by Stackpole and was part number 73-1037. I am posting this just in case someone may find a few more laying around. Stackpole was bought out in 1986 by Electroswitch so these have'nt been made in 20 years. Hope someone else can get lucky!

Got these too! They have 3 connections and common. Easier and less worries about shorts!

Re: Recommend a cheap(er) impedence selector switch?
I was at a local electronics shop and found some really nice switches for $1.50 each. So I bought two. I was checking out the Francesca pictures, and it turns out they were pretty close to the same switch. Next time I stopped in, I bought them all.

So, I ended up with 10, there's one in an amp I'm building. As you can see some of them are plastic, though.

Dude, you hit the motherload!
Now all you have to do is build nine more amps.....

you might also check here.. although not the Stackpole ..but still look very good. Scroll to the bottom and you'll see it.

I use the rotary switches from mouser:

http://www.mouser.com/catalog/specsheets/TW-700107.pdf
I've found them to be very good switches despite the low price. Let me see if I can find a pic of it in action...

Paul,
the rating of this model is rather on the low side. Have you ever tried to double the contacts i.e. wire 2 sections in parallel?

Re: Recommend a cheap(er) impedence selector switch?
hello there, i realize the topic is about a cheaper switch but unless you luck up on these in electronic surplus places you'll have to pay more than a couple of bucks to get an enclosed electroswitch brand switch. here is the part number from mouser: 690-c4d0112n-a. it is the c4 series of switches from electroswitch---looks to be high quality and is only $9.80. expensive but not totally outrageous. if you're trying to build a high quality amp like a wreck, komet, etc. you might as well spend the extra dough and get a good switch if you're trying to copy layout exactly. personally i use jacks for each of the taps and forget about the switch. but that's just me. rh
Re: Recommend a cheap(er) impedence selector switch?
Yes you can call electroswitch, and do a cross refference on the Stackpole number. Although the one Allyn has a is a 'Special" switch. So they don't have that one..
They have a C4D0206N which mouser has.. and a C4D0203N that is a 3 position switch. just have to look if your going to find any of the old stackpole switches.
