DIY Amp Kit
Looking for a AMP Kit that resembles a VOX AC30 sound and tone with about 20 watt of output power, small enough to play at home, but big enough to cut through drums. Does anyone have any suggestions? Most kits that I come across are only 5 watts

You can get the transformers from the same vendor.
Otherwise, use a Weber AC30 kit and use a 20w OT.

Re: DIY Amp Kit
Well, you're describing the Trainwreck Rocket, which is very similar to the AC30 Top Boost channel. Add a VVR and you get a great, play-at-home-or-with-a-drummer amp.

Re: DIY Amp Kit
I assumed you were looking for the Vox AC package but yeah if your just looking for a head or non Vox looking combo the Trainwreck Rocket is a great choice. This amp has been built into many different power sections by the members on this forum.
You could go 22w with a pair of 6V6 or leave it at 18w with pair of EL84's.
Talk to www.rjguitars.net about such a kit.

Re: DIY Amp Kit
The 500pf first coupler doesn't put forth much gain and would probably make the Rocket pretty manageable for you. You could also leave out the second cathode bypass cap and keep the volume down even less.
