So I got my set of JJ 6CA7's. They have the most lowend out of all the tubes I've tried in the Express amp.
The amp was set the same for all clips with the 500p bright on, and all controls at 12:00 except for the presence at 9:00. 'Tubes were biased at 70%.
They all sound good, it's just a matter of which one you hear first. More highend seems to imprint your ears, making anything less sound dull. So I put the clips in order with the thickest lowend 1st.
Solo kicks in a .35 seconds.

I think they all sound awesome. If I had to choose, I'd choose the CA7s. They might be a little chunkier.
Nice music...great heavy groove and playing. Turn that into an album dood. Thanks for the clips.

I preferred the EL34L. I'd be interested to hear a comparison of the EL34L and a regular EL34. I'm curious if there really is any sonic difference.
It's all about the tone!

great tune!
yeah they all sounded good. i liked either the 6CA7 or KT77 for the intro, then the EL34 for the heavy stuff. i couldn't really tell the difference for the intro, though, until i loaded them all up and quickly switched from one to the other.

Nice clips!
Tip of the hat to the 6CA7s, but the EL34Ls were sounding good too. Not to say the KT77s didn't also...
Think the 6CA7s sounded a bit more crisp and articulate to me.

Thanks for listening.
Keep in mind that I had the tone controls the same for all tubes. I wanted to hear the characteristics of each tube on an even playing ground.
You could definitely fine tune the tone controls to the tube you liked best.

Yeah man, I just swapped them all in and out again, and the 6CA7's are thick but still are still articulate on the top end. I like them best right now.
It's a fat tube to with double getters!
