Tremorocket 2xel84

Post by cbass »

built this out of crap I had laying around on a whim.Made the layout up as I went along. Its pretty sloppy but it works.Maybe if you guys shame me enough i'll go back and tidy it up.

I used the copper cap because I'm afraid to use any of my good gz34's with an 80uf filter!

I used it at the halftime show at my superbowl party.my single 10 test speaker wouldn't keep with the very loud drummer but a 4x12 did the trick.Sounded awsome.

Not necessarily, many builds are done with parallel filament runs like that.

I fully agree. Parallel filaments may not be needed. It is something you may get away with, but a tight twist never performs worse, IME.

The diamond plate aluminum chassis is cool looking. What kind of hardware will you use to mount it in the cab?

You can get away with it if you're lucky or good.
Zero hum . Some hiss if you dime everything I still have noisy microphonic tubes in it from start up. I haven't tried my low noise tubes yet.

Haven't thought that far ahead I never plan anything .I just wake up one morning and say hey I'm gonna do this.It started out going to be 6g3 deluxe.I'm glad I did the rocket.

Knowin me it probaly will sit like it is for a while building cabs is too much like my day job.

I likes it.
Diamond plate looks great.
Neat & tidy compared to some of my efforts.
Don't tidy it up - it always sounds worse when you do that.

I already tidied up the grounding and the nuetrul wire conection Next time I order some parts I ''ll replace a couple of the pots .I don't like the connections on the main cap but it has 18ga leads that i bent into an eyelet so it should be ok I should have put in a couple of terminal strips.Screen resistors are only 470ohm 2 watt.I guess I should replace those with 5w.I have a 5w 1k resistor instead of a choke I may try a out a choke in its place.but I'm happy with the way it sounds like it is.The tremolo is awesome I just grafted in the 6g3 tremolo circuit
