Hey all,
I've got this 20 x 6 chassis laying around, and I'd like to use it for either an EL84 or Octal Rocket build.
I've started with spitballing a EL84 rocket layout in Paint, creating the transformer and tube footprints to scale, to make sure it would be feasible.
Anybody see any problems? The OT, PT would be 90 degrees off-axis, and I'd probably turn the choke to 45 degrees off-axis. I'm not really sure if its ok to put the GZ34 inbetween the PT and the OT.

Re: Rockster Layout using a different chassis
Herec,
Should work fine, I like putting all the tubes in one line but anything works.
With a narrow chassis 6 inch like a Marshall perhaps all the tubes in a row would be your only choice.
Having the 12AX7 up further closer to the tone board keeps the wiring short, then place the EL84s or octal power tubes near the rear typical TW fashion.
Attached are various Rocket layout possibilities I have built.

Mark Fowler aka "Rocket Man"...
Bottom line: The Rocket is pretty forgiving regarding alternate layouts.

Decided on a octal rocket, AKA Rockster, started laying out chassis cutouts in CAD.

I've got an octal rockster on a big chassis like that... My favorite. I think you should go for it.
