Transformer sets available.

Post by paulruby »

FYI... Since Moose over at Toneslut is inprocess of moving, I ordered ten sets of iron to keep from burdening him. If anyone needs a set while he is moving, I certainly don't need all ten sets. I'll sell for the same price as Moose. 5 sets available and I'll keep 5 sets for my own builds.

FYI... All iron sets are sold. But, one set is coming back available. I neglected to mention above that I ordered the original wreck iron and not Moose's upgrade. Original iron had only the 5.2k primary on the OT and only the 295VAC on the PT. This is what I use to build both wrecks (solid state recto) and rockets (tube recto) and it works great. It just plain never dawned on me that folks would be expecting the 6.6k taps and 260V HV. Oops. Sorry.

Anyway, there is one set presently in transit to Rob Keeler that he doesn't want because of this. If anyone wants that set, perhaps Rob could send direct rather than waste money shipping back to me. Let me know.

If anyone has trouble with the email address above, I can be reached at:

p.ruby _AT_ comcast.net

paul.d.ruby _AT_ intel.com

Of course, replace " _AT_ " with @

If there is still interest and Moose is still moving, I could order more, too.

Paul,

Crap... i was thinking that it was the dual-HV PT and dual-primary OT... I would like to change my mind on those tranny's as well.

Thank you,

Andy

No Problem. I'll send your money order back when it arrives.

Folks, this means I still have a set of ORIGINAL wreck iron available if needed. 5.2k primary and 295VAC to build a wreck or rocket. It's no problem if I keep them since I'll be building again anyway. This was just intended as a quick favor to folks while Moose was moving (which I then completely fouled up by assuming original iron was what everyone was looking for).

I'll take a couple of sets (up to 3 if you have them) if they are still available.

Hmmm...

I am building an Express, so I assume that the iron I got from you will work fine. However, I was thinking that having both 5k2 and 6k6 primaries on the OT would be nice.

Does anyone know how soon will Moose have more (of the new iron) available? If it is going to be soon, I would rather have that.

thanks - Kevin

I just changed my express from 6.6k to the 5.2k and I prefer the 5.2k it seemed to open the amp up a bit. Phil

Thanks Straycat. I have a set of iron from Mr. Ruby as well. Looks the same to me sans the extra taps. I don't need the extra taps as I am going to build a Liverpool next and have all three. 8)

I am also considering changing the impedence to 5.2K in the Express. But it sounds so good I don't want to mess w/ the mojo!

More sets available!

Post by paulruby »

Folks,

I just got 10 more sets from heyboer since the first batch sold quick and I got some more orders for custom builds. Same price as from moose, of course. If interested I can be reached via my website. http://paulamps.com

I've edited the post below to the correct specs for these. Key things: M27 steel for the OT (slightly smoother tone than M50) and no 260V Taps. Moose also uses M27 steel, I believe.

Thanks,
Paul

How's about a PT with only a 260vac Hi-V, used only for a Rocket build???
Thanks

Too many different configurations are a pain in the butt to keep if you're not doing a "real" business. If you don't really want to just tape off the high voltage tap for some reason, Heyboer will probably make you a one-off to your spec at a small premium.
