Help - need suggestions for parts for TR Ruby clone...

Post by mojo »

Forgive me if its already posted somewhere here, but I need to find a source for the rotary three way switch used on the back of my Ruby build to switch impedences from 4 to 8 to 16. I also need the "bias test point" part, a good source for Alpha pots and Switchcraft jacks, and some help tracking down the original source of the knobs used on the Ruby. Any help appreciated.

I think I just found the knobs - I guess they're the same as the 'Wreck knobs in a previous post from Small Bear electronics.

You can get most of these from Mouser:

Electroswitch 3 position rotary switch, 690-C5P0304N-A
Johnson Meter Tip Jack Black, 530-105-0803-1
Johnson Meter Tip Jack Red, 530-105-0802-1

Alpha pots, either linear or audio

I just ordered the Electroswitch 690-C4D0112N-A and it took quite a jump in price last month from $9.80 to 15.32.

Different switches. I use pt# 690-C4D0112N-A and the one Elcabong posted was 690-C5P0304N-A. The one I used is a 1 pole 12pos that can be set for 3pos. The one Elcabong posted is a 4 pos 3 pole switch. Both will work but I believe the one Ken used was the C4D0112N-A. I wonder how much the other one went up. Both are still showing the lower prices and I was informed that the online catalog hasn't been updated with the new prices yet.

I also had a price jump on something else at Mouser last month; catalog and on-line were out of synch. Only true way to tell the price is to go online.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I've got it all together now except I can't seem to track down the right pot for the bias trim pot. In the Ruby the pot is an Alpha marked B25K 1J and has the usual screwdriver adjustment tip. I can't seem to find it from Mouser.

Hope no one minds me bumping this to see if I can get a response. I still can't seem to find the Alpha screwdriver-turn 25K carbon bias pot like Two Rock used in the Ruby. Mouser has lots of other Alpha pots, but I can't find that one. I have thought of going ahead with the upgrade to the Bourns or Claro as per other previous discussions about bias pots (and as in the Komets), but they're a LOT more expensive, and I figure if Two Rock and Fender were okay with it I probably am too. I think this is the last thing I have left to track down, so please help if possible.

Mojo, I can get you a clarostat screw driver 2w precision pot for about $6.00. I also have the real TW knobs. Old stock for $2.50 and new stock for $1.50 I'll check to see if I have stock. You can also use a regular 2W Clarostat and mount it on the chassis.
