New Komet?

Post by kometlover »

Hello, first post. The new Komet was shown on the Gear page and was pulled down right away. Whats up? I heard this is the place to discuss my favorite amp the Komet. I own one I bought second hand and I love it. Anybody have any previews here?

WTF does that have to do with kometlover's comment?

Anyway, I haven't heard a Komet yet, but the workmanship is just gorgeous. If it sounds as good as it looks, you've gotta be lovin' it! :D

Apparently, I missed a comment from Chimeboss. Anybody want to clue me in? Anyways, I heard the clips on the Komet site and they sound good. On the Gear page is was said that they are guitar directly into amp. Now I'm a supporter but, let's be honest...The amp doesn't have reverb and the other effects I hear! :?

Thanks for the multiple Private messages I got regarding Chimeboss. I will watch out for him. I may call Komet amps and see what they say about this guy!

Yes reverb echo and a few other things going on, it is a bit misleading to say just guitar straight into the amp, even if the effects are added after.

Some people say they like the backing music to see how the amp sits in the music or mix,but they should maybe do both..with and without so people could hear how it sounds both ways..and dry and no EQ inhancements or board effects added..

Hi kometlover,
I don't have to pm you on this one. chimeboss bears a striking resemblance to another ex member called rocket. chimeboss has the odd fascination of wanting to police every post that ever involved the mere mention of a komet. he also likes to come back and edit/delete his posts when he blows a gasket. just ignore him like everyone else does. :D

Well put Snide. I have a feeling you are correct about the rocket link and one other thing. Chimeboss is also another member here IMO who owns an amp business! I'll leave it at this.

It's academic...the thing has a handle. That alone kills all mojo

Has anyone heard the new Komet samples? The "Concorde" sounds like a Komet 60 to me. Not a bad thing mind you. :D I was just wondering if anybody else had a comment. I was thinking of making one and maybe still will since I have all the parts laying around but, I think with my "K" clone that I'm building and my TW Express, I think I have those sounds covered. I saw the pictures on the Gear page as well as a few that are circulating and it looks like a Komet 60 with the exception of a couple of caps. One of my friends Komet 60 came with Orange drop caps instead of the Mallory 150's.

My impression was that it sounded like a Komet 60 with a more Van Halenish top end. It's very hot rod Marshall sounding to me. I thought I read that it was a four stage preamp, so I was expecting something more over the top than just the bluesy, classic-rock type sounds. Obviously, it sounds great, though. I wish Komet had a Northern California dealer so I could check them out. :x

Hi Jackie, how's your 'wreck. I still have that over-the-top video you made! :D I'm doing a Liverpool now and should be done in a week or so. I have to finish my "K".

I had a LTD which is the same amp as the Concorde only in wood and limited production and it sounded fat, bass heavy, thick almost muddy in the midrange without a top end that cuts through. Didn't have as much crunchy midrange and drive as my CageWreck didn't cut through like my CageWreck. I think if you play alone or with no bass player and with a percussionist who plays the triangle you will love the Concorde. If you jam with friends you'll get lost. In other words this amp will impress the hell out of you in the store only to find that there is too much of a good thing. I tried turning the bass down it didn't help ran it on 1 or zero almost the entire time it was here.

908, I wonder if their return to a Wreck/Komet60 with SS recto presented them with some of the same problems Wreck cloners here experienced. Using a circuit based around NOS Mullard tubes and using the current stuff in it. i know that My TW Expess clone sounded OK with what I had laying around but, when I put in Mullard XF2 NOS tubes it sent it into sonic nirvana. :D It sounds like a totally different amp.

Allyn

Maybe using all PVC Mallory caps would have brightened it up. I know it used PVC on the PI and Mallory 150 everywhere else. That what I saw on the gut shots of the one I checked out. I know that Komet changes things around a bit.
