Has anyone built an Express with SoZo caps?
I have my board populated with Mallory 150s already, and I want to see how it sounds that way first...but I have a set of SoZos that I could put in there after the initial fire-up. Is it worth it?

Re: SoZo caps?
I tried IC's, Mallories, and Sozo's in that order.
I currently have the Sozo's in my Express inspired amp, as they were the last set I was tinkering with. Honestly, I couldn't really tell much of a difference (tonally) between them. They all sound pretty good.
I did install some blackgate electrolytics for the cathode bypass on V1 & V2, and found only a subtle difference. The amp seemed to be little quieter with the blackgates. I have found that tube type and brand seem to make more of a noticeable difference in my amp's tone. I just put some NOS Siemens El34's in the amp, and it sounds fantastic, really edgy turned up, and crystal clear and shimmering at lower volumes.
If you do make the change to Sozo's, I would be interested in knowing if you find any difference in the tone of your amp.

Re: SoZo caps?
Ditto. IC, Mallory 150, Sozo and NOS Mustards all sound the same to me. Even the cheapo Cornell Dubillier metalized (the brown chicklets) sond the same to me. But, I prefer the axial leads of the mallory 150, so that's what I use, mostly.
I can hear a difference between all the above and orange drops. But, I don't like orange drops in anything except clean amps. They can be too bright in a high gain amp.

Thanks fellas!
I think I'll stick with the 150s for at least the first few hundred hours...

I built my clone using Sozo's, and definitely like the way it sounds. However, I only used them because I had stumbled into them at the right time, it wasnt a planned thing. I normally use Mallory 150's or the IC's that look just like Mallory's.
