I just used a 2k2/5w resistor in place of a choke.

You sure have some building chops.
It's on par with Marks.

Now I know were I can find some subcontractor amp builders.

BTW I'm curious, minus your labor how much do you have invested in parts to build that amp?

Also I can see your going to have a problem with your Switchcraft #12 input jack, the alignment of the shorting leg is a failure waiting to happen.
I was forced to stop using the #12's do to high failures and switched to the # 113, FWI.

DR.Z
Dr Z, very interesting about the #12 vs #113, the #12 have always looked more heavy duty than the #113. But if you've ran into failures I should re-assess my loyalty to the 'ol #12. What do you think of the Rean style like in Marshals, they look very flimzy to me, but I like the more muffled sound when the jack is inserted.

Hi all,

Can someone explain how it works that comfort versus speed thing.
i just look at the pictures post here from Steve and read some but
cant get the thing how it works and so on.
is it working on the power transformer or on the output transformer?

wish i could afford a Z wreck Wow.......
soooo many good things hear about it

and Big Compliments to Dr Z

Comfort vs Speed simply selects a different set of secondary high voltage taps on the power transformer. On mine, it is between the 250V tap and the 280V Tap.

I don't notice a huge difference between the two.

220K voltage divider

Post by AmpegSVT »

Do you have a schematic of how this 220k voltage divider is added to the rocket schematic?

Forgot that you were talking about changing the Lite IIB into the 18w wreck.

Those transformers are perfect for the build. Doc lowered the filtering in the Zwreck and added the 220k voltage divider otherwise, no change from the Rocket layout TAG has posted in the files section.

While I stopped promoting cloning Zwrecks we are talking about the 18w version so that should be okay if I promote that amp instead.

If you take a look at the rocket schematic, there is a 220k resistor on the output of the treble pot.
Add an additional 220k resistor to ground, connected opposite the treble pot.

choke

Post by clearwater1966 »

hey all,
what type of choke is the best for this amp?

i have a AC30 choke like 100Ma/19H
is that usable or do i need a lower one like for example 10H

kind regards,

Cor
