i hope my new amp(and my playing) do all of this justice!
wouldnt be funny if i couldnt even play? LOL
Not funny, or unusual at all. There are plenty of valuable, vintage guitars and amps decorating living- and rec-rooms around the world. Just a decade ago, Japanese investors were buying up all the old Strats and Les Pauls at guitar shows around the country....the Dallas Show it looked like the NYSE trading floor, what with all the Japanese 'brokers' on their cell phones. A lot of boutique amps are used for end-tables and other parlor fodder, and also for 'stage bling'.
yeah i know. i sucks. there should be a law against taking vintage guitars out of north america and europe. a special process to apply. some of these are cultural icons.
but as we would have it, its the money motivated people who think that it gives them a edge over others to just own these pieces and brag about them. i hate that.
i do play out a lot, im not yngwie, but i can play . so the amp will be played out .steffen www.myspace.com/losfurios

god, sorry. i didnt mean it that way. i should have worded myself better. my appologies. obviously there are great deserving players everywhere. i meant that some many of these guitars and amps were just boxed up in a shipping container and sent overseas.
if the vintage market was more regulated, but that cant possibly happen.
no offence anyone
It's shitty the way money dominates the world but honestly if it was based on talent it wouldn't be much different. You would still have the haves and the have nots. I collect amps that are far better then my personal playing ability, but I do put them to work in the studio so others can enjoy them, both to play and those who buy the albums to enjoy listening to. Consider it my personal quest to end amp modeling. The good news about me I buy broken amps and fix them back to 100% NOS and when I die i'm sure my wife wont waste a moment selling them off and getting them back into circulation.

I remember the guitar shows, well over 20 years ago, the buying up of guitars going on, and probably started before then. Now think about it..
not only were they getting bought up. Think back, when the first copies of gibson and fenders were coming out. The really good copies. Copies sometimes better than the real thing.
Some may have been collectors, but some i believe went to the places that wanted all the details to copy and build them. Jump to today. some of the better playing guitars are made in other countries. And the funny thing is, they have been sued along those years.
The guitar companies that sued them, now are having guitars built there..HAHA.
Should have been a wake up call to get on the ball, selling super high dollar guitars and the quality falling.

yeah some of those tokai strats and les pauls were pretty good, if not great!

Absolutely, without a doubt. There are some very good, serious players outside USA and Eur; many very deserving of the equipment they own and struggle as hard as we do to obtain.

I thought that was why we are securing our borders.. was to keep the amps in
IN the year 2030 when tone is the most important resource on earth. one brit american pop cover band will go to the extreme to be the ultimate cover band.
sounds like a set up for a B comedy ... "tone smugglers"
Hmm, by 2030 most if not all kids will be playing Vintage amps Circa 2010 made in China so reverse tone migration will be in full effect... Our future is in safe hands!

Maybe the china stuff of today will be the unicord and westbury stuff of tomorrow...and they'll be collecting the wacky, one-off stuff WE, HERE, are building right now. Nice thought...
Or maybe they'll just collect those paper (air) guitars.

just wait until someone makes a hit album or song on a paper guitar. with protools and melodyne it's not impossible.
How many kids did Ken have? and who is in control of his trust? I know it's all public record including the anual tax reports i'm just not sure how to go about looking it up. I'd be curious to see how backward the books are trying to keep the mystery alive and the price high.
Any word on how many ne Wrecks will be produced? or how long before the old cloner weblink is reposted.
and more information on this JM fellow? not being in the circle of trainwreck back in the day if someone asked me who he was. I could only answer "didn't he at one point help solder boards for Ken, but was to slow or cost to much to use?" and "Isn't he the guy making the lazer engraved Reissue Wrecks?" doesn't say much about him. what was his claim to fame other then coat tails and being in the right place at the right time? Is he a Dennis Kager, or Bob Rissi type guy? Does he have any circuits to his name?
