Who did the lettering on the front panel?
That looks really good, it sets the cab off.

385V on the KT66 plates.
180 ohm / 220uF common catthode.

Very nice!! the question is...with that plate voltage and that common cathode resistor does it still has the same headroom as the rocket. Is it as dynamic too?

I've found that around a 400v B+ and 6L6 outputs something magical happens up at full tilt. Quiet as all get up at full volume with a super clean AC/DC style crunch and backed off on the guitar volume makes it super chimey. Noticeably louder than an Express to boot. I cant keep em when I build em, Add a spring reverb and it's the perfect blues amp. I think I'll try one with 6V6's soon.

No, but I've always understood that it specs out similar to a 5881 which is AFAIK a 6L6GB. Plate dissipitation around 23 to 25 watts instead of 30 watts. Shou;d be worth a try if thats what you got. If not a decent pair of TAD's is only 50 bucks.

I've haven't tried 6l6's (yet). Will this weekend if I get some time.
I seem to remember RJ liked them in his.
The kt66's do sound great - huge & full.
A while ago I built a fixed bias big bottle rocket reverb.
I should A/B them when I get the chance.
To my ears EL84 rockets have a more defined chime to them.
The KT's just sound fuller & more rounded.
Hope that makes sense.

Re: Another Big Bottle Rocket Underway
The 6L6 seems like another great match with these amps. The circuit will let the stout forward thing happen in spades probably.
Dunno about chime though.
Hurry up weekend.
