Yes, the statement was that the Dumble guys don't like them, but if you look around you will find that there isn't a consensus so yet another meme was born.

I haven't used Ceriatone for other reasons to build anything. Shipping is one, deals elsewhere are another, and I use mostly basketcase originals a third. I would gladly use one of his kits as a starting point if the shipping didn't tip the boat over.

I have played a couple non-Dumbleish Ceriatone (built) amps and I thought they sounded just fine... nothing sounds really good until I am out of solder and need one more cap.. ;)

TW guys don't hate him. Dumble guys do.

There was a big discussion back in the days when Nik would actually post here. Many members on the Dumble side felt he had benefited from their work, without giving anything back. Many still feel this way, since he sells direct clones of the 183, 124 etc, which were uncovered by members of the board, yet never bothered to share info he uncovered, i.e. SSS.

I think when most of the TW discovery process was in full swing, Nik hadn't started his business yet. TW guys might have been more pissed if every time a bunch of people worked on discovering and correcting a new circuit it almost immediately appeared as a kit offering by Nik.

Agreed.

People in business is a reason I don't post all my findings in a single place, ever. Steve Miller's ZL effects loops was canned by Mojo and they pretend not to notice. Not that I have any good ideas, mind you..

However, I should add that those most irate with him were people starting their own businesses selling "Dumble-inspired" amps, many of whom rarely post these days.

I don't hate him, however, he has benefited greatly from this board and has given exactly zero back.

I'll change my opinion of him when he comes over with information about his SSS offering.

Agreed and I misspoke ...did not mean to insinuate the tw guys dislike him...That is not the case.

Thanks for sharing. Good to know.
I'm planning to get Dumble-like and Trainwreck-like boutique amps
or amp kits. I've been selling-off some vintage Fender amps for
just this very reason. Now, I know not to discuss Ceriatone. Sorry.

He seems like a good guy.
Kind of like Marshall took directly from Fender.

- Dumble forum posts schematic for #124.
- Nik produces a #124 kit.
- Dumble forum posts schematic for #183.
- Nik produces #183 kit.
- Nik somehow comes across SSS schematic and produces a kit.
- Doesn't post on Dumble forum.

There was and still are so many members taking info from TAG and don't give anything back so Nik isn't alone in that respect.

A lot of guys have moved on running successful businesses and don't have time to post or don't care about TAG anymore.

I've been finding more and more local guys apparently have got build info for TW amps from TAG but sure as heck don't contribute, that is sad.

I support the kids I am aware of. Fortunately all three came from the lovely woman I'm married to.

I apologize for my tone. I don't hold ill will for Nik or any others that take from here without contributing. It's just a little disappointing.
