IMHO, the trainwreck sound (at least mine) is a little smoother than the EVH sound, although not in a completly different universe. You may have to use a pedal to push the gain a little harder.
You should check out Mark's [rockstah] wrecked marshall clips.
As for cabs, the 2x12 THD is really nice. makes about anything you plug into it sound good., a bit pricey for a 2x12,but i guess you add in the speakers,etc.. its ok.
WGS ET-65's on top and EVM-12S's that I reconed on the bottom.
I just took those EVM-12S out of my cabinet. I had them mixed with EVM-12L. I felt the 12S added a lot of high end hash that was a bit abrasive, though they felt nice.

What's your take Pliny?
Well, they're certainly not dark. When I reconed them, I put some extra dope around the edge to try and mellow them out a bit and it seemed to work along with them getting darker as they break in. I like them a lot for clean tones, but not so much for distortion...
For that I have my 2x12 with Scumbacks
I also wired the cab so I could run only the WGS or the EV's alone and I haven't tried it in a while but I was surprised at how alike the speakers sound. I was expecting them to be a lot more different. I gotta try it again.
I have an original 12S that I plan on putting in a "Thiele" cab and I have an Altec 417 frame to recone that ought to be really bright..
So, I have a dark and silky cab and a bright and forward cab... Not a bad choice, IMO..

Mine looks like this...
I have the same cab except in red tolex; loaded with two Celestion Greenbacks. Very warm, punchy, and brown sounding with a Plexi or JCM type builds. It's got that Marshall cabinet "knock".

1 x 12 Cabinet with a Scumback 65W pre-Rola type speaker - In a sealed cabinet it sounds compressesed and spits out the speaker cable at any volume approaching half way up. With the Strat, that would be about 2/3 volume.
Suggestions? I have been considering an open back Avatar cabinet, but I am not sure which speakers to use.
Time for a locking 1/4" jack. I've been putting these on all of my cabinets as of a couple months ago. No more jack puking out the speaker cable.
I have a 15" version and it is hands down the best cabinet I own, and I play guitar and Bass.
I also have these for anyone that is interested. PM me for price. You can get it empty or with the 12L, Fane Medusa 150 or a Eminence Delta 12a. You get to pick the tolex color.

Almost any of these suggestions would work with a pretty great result.
Wouldn't the ideal speaker cabinet be a vintage (late 70's) Ampeg 2x12 loaded with Pre Rola's? The cabinet was what inspired the Trainwreck Logo to be fabricated in the first place. The Speakers are the chosen favorite and the set up is what KF used to voice the amps. I would assume that would get you the closest to tonal Nirvana for this style amplifier.

Do you mean a 25-watt Greenback, or the 12H30 type?
Ken's personal favorite with an Express was the 30 watt G12H. However he also told me if you wanted it less bright and not as loud to try the 25s which have worked well for me for exactly those reasons. I also find the slight extra compression of the 25s make the clean to mean even more dramatic, and more similar in level.

When you say 12H, do you mean the regular 75Hz speaker?
