It could just be my eyes but I think they are 30uf filter caps in the power supply not 16uf? And there are 5 of them, not 6. Please forgive me if I missed something in the discussion about this.

Check the latest schematic (p.13) and Version 2 close up photos again. They are Mallory CDE TC74 16uF caps throughout. XITS is not using the 30uF Sprague Atoms any more.

Hi Paolo,

If you have a look at the guts picture in the second post on this page of the thread you'll see there are 5 caps:

https://tubeamparchive.com/viewtopic.ph ... c&start=75

It looks like this thread contains photo's of different amps, or is that a black cap near to the power switch?

Best wishes,

Chris

Hi Colossal,

Sorry for the mix up, I was just going by what I saw in the original photos.

Great work on the schematic by the way.

Best wishes,

Chris

Layout Finished? Any comments are appreciated. Couple things:

1) grounded V1 and input togther at first filter cap/star
2) V2 cathode and tone stack grounded together at second filter cap
3) PI grounded at third filter cap (will prob move the PI tube over a bit)
4) grounded Ptubes at their filter cap
5) rectifier area not totally decided on whether to do the original or latest version and I might move it on top of the G10.

edit layout removed adn updated in a post reply to this one

I'm not knowledgeable enough to help you build it, but I can help you flog it once it's built! :D

i'm making a 30w prototype right now.
so you're not alone.
Once I'll understand how this amplifiers works and can be tweaked, I'll make the definitive version. Also becasuse I plan to make a great transformer "swap battle", so to get the right one.
BTW nice idea the use of the solen caps. I already have used them in another fender style amp and they make a difference IMHO.

Nice! Keep us posted on those few values we were missing.

What PT and OT values are you using? I am doing a 300-0-300 and a 25W 8k. I am debating the terminal strips for the Ptubes and i'd like to know how the heater buss bars work for you as well...

For my choke its 440R and might throw a resistor in between c1 and c2 to compensate considering the 1k that used to be on the older version

T, I emailed you all my stuff. I hope you can get through all that and actually order. I already had an LED indicator, some switches, etc. Keep in mind I got the big solens and my layout is for that with a 2 1/2 inch deep chassis (18x8x2.5). If you move forward, I can email you the drill plans or edit them to change the size of the caps and locations to drill the turret holes in the G10.

I also ordered a few different types/brands of caps/resistors (carbon film and PRPs and ploystyrene/polypropylene) since I don't know what the solen fast caps are going to do.

Oh and I went with the 1M dual gang MV.

Raven, when I'm done we can hook up for sure. I checked out your site, are you the Dr. Scientist? Nice work...

Okay I updated the layout a bit to add a VVR3 and moved the PI over a bit to give more room for the OT secondaries and 4-8-16R speaker jacks. About the only thing I think I might do is:

1) put the rectifier stuff on the main G10
2) maybe move the pots a little closer to the input to shorten the runs

Let me know what you think. I think she's nearly done...
