I agree with you completely and didn't mean to suggest not doing a quick voltage measurement. Very good to be thorough. It's just a history with these pots that lead to my assumption. I believe Aiken's site has a bit on PECs and how they all seem to become dirty over time. That, and a few people here on the forum have reported the same findings. My thoughts on using PECs is to take off the cover (Prior to installation) and give them a good cleaning to see if that'll keep them becoming problematic in the future.
