Ya know? Going to a Vol - Tone - Dwell - Verb will only take a different face plate and no additions to the circuit board. Lose the tone stack caps on the board - add the tone pot (1M) and two caps (500p, .0047) next to the volume pot. The dwell control is basically a volume control (25K-L) on the first stage of the reverb circuit - nothing to add but a pot after the coupling cap.

Ta da!

It Lives!

Went through the start up procedure and made no smoke, voltages checked out so I plugged in the tele and it sounded wonderful! I read many of the threads which were germane to the Rocket here so I am very thankful for the huge amount of knowledge and talent here at TAG. And I didn't really have to bother anyone with many questions - yet..... Leaving for NOLA tomorrow so I won't be able to do any extended playing til I return in 10 days. Big thanks to rj and Mark for their help.

Woo Hoo... great to see these projects coming together. I am especially impressed that Geoff made such great progress as the pioneer of the new chassis and layout before I really had all the documentation all sorted out.

As always, I know Mark will put together a great amp... I kinda think of him as the guru of the Rocket Reverb technology. I can't wait to hear the results.

Sorry I haven't been able to offer much help and get a schematic and layout posted. I've been taking care of my ailing elderly mom. Those that know me will recognize that my top speed is not all that fast but with visits to the ER and in and out of the doctors office nearly every day for the past week... amps are a lower priority.

Great work, thanks for sharing the progress reports.... keep them coming.

I hear ya JoeCon . I like them with a brite switch for lower volumes. At 2:00 on the amp and about 6 or 7 on a Les Paul the clean chime would embarrass anything fender puts out. I've built this with octal tubes before as well. Hard to believe it could get any better , try it with octal tubes.

Check out Ampgeek, Dave O.'s, 20 knob Marshall thingy. Holy Crap!!
LOL!

Now..now Joe... lets not exaggerate....its only 9 knobs!

Seriously though, I hear what you are saying. But...truth be told...if you eliminate the clipping circuit gig (THAT requires some judicial selection and use), it is actually hard to make it sound bad. Miles really knew what made his suggestions tick in that plan!

Hope that all is well back East and that spring has sprung!

Cheers,

Dave

OK, 9 knobs, 4 3-way switches, 3 pictures with circles and arrows...LOL!
I bet it does sound good, but give me Gain and Tone and lets play some Rock and Roll!!

Warm over the weekend but a Noreaster on Wednesday...YES!! No wait...

Enjoy

Rocket Reverb Combo

Post by Dfhog »

I finally got around to making a cabinet for the Reverb Rocket. I love this amp! it sounds great, has amazing touch sensitivity and now as a combo it's my go to grab-n-go! Very Loud! The cabinet was constructed out of cherry plywood which had the edges capped with cherry. The joinery consists of dowel joints with the outside edges set a bit proud - ala danish modern

Wow, that is really nicely done with the added bonus that it sounds good... or maybe that is in reverse order. Either way it's great work and maybe the perfect little combo amp. thanks for the photos. rj

Not only a nice amp but a great cabinet too.
With so many nice cabinet builds it's almost a woodworking site now....LOL!

OT is a EM0720 but with white common. 35w 5k2 with screen taps. Took the amp apart to make sure what I have.

I like the wiring label on top not the bottom of transformers I don't care what hifi guys say.
