I posted some clips here somewhere of a Liverpool build. have to find them. The Liverpool amps do rock..CapnCrunch wrote:Cool!
Ever since I heard the overdriven tracks on Brad Paisleys instrumental album (all of which are his Liverpool, according to interviews I've read) I've been wanting to try to build one.
I've looked around here for some clips, and read some threads but the Liverpool definitely seems to be the Red Headed step child of the Wrecks. I don't understand that personally. I think that this clip sounds great, and just re-confirms for me that I will build a Liverpool when I get the money together to buy the parts and pieces.
Thanks!

8.2k ???
I used a 10k on the front end and I believe the "chosen" value Ken used on the 2nd stage was 820ohms....my chosen value was 10k although there was no science behind it. If I had an 820 handy, it probably would have that in it.

ok so you used a 10k were its drawn in a 820 R , i was thinking on the grind stoppers for the el 84 , marshall 18w use a 8.2k and that kills the high screams , i think its importent to get it a little darker and stay away from thin sounding .
Re: A Liverpool Clip
here is the link to the Liverpool clips. You can read what was used. A strat, and used my PC sound card to record with, just a SM 58. Not the best setup but all i had on hand. I did the clips to show that the Liverpool can also Rock.

I've checked out those clips several times, Monster chops you have! I also read Dana's thread on the Liverpool combo several times. Thanks for the reference!

Richie... I remember saying to you those clips were really cool around the time I was building a Rocket and looking for a cab. They sound great and significantly better than I ever managed with a mic and a pc that's for sure.
Liverpools surely are a bundle of fun.

Re: A Liverpool Clip
Great tone and great playing Richie!! Wow, really cool.
You are getting an almost Marshally sound there (would you say that's accurate or is it really it's own thing?). It's got that cool, bouncy kind of sound where you are doing pull-off licks with nice harmonic overtones riding on top of the note. Sounds very full but with that almost natural reverb-like quality I hear in 50 and 100W Superlead amps.
How do you find the low end with the Liverpool?

Volume and tone full up. The Greco I have is not a bright guitar.jaysg wrote:Which pickup and knob settings? (tone rolled off, volume up or low?)fishy wrote:Its my trusty Greco LP through a Scumback in an openback cab.
The amp was at 2'o'clock on the volume, treble around 10'o' clock, middle and bass at noon, and the presence around 10' 0' clock.
The bright switch was in (100pf).

Cool stuff Richie. Some of the rythms remind me of where KingsX coulda gone if they hadn't wussed out. Where did some of you source the heyboers. The schematic calls for a secondary of 234vac, is that 234-0-234 ?Richie wrote:here is the link to the Liverpool clips. You can read what was used.
