Uhh.. Everything in the Express is overrated so that the system is never overstressed and can always quickly deliver the sound (a fixed bias EL34 amp should sound pretty "quick"). The 3801 is a big fat piece of iron that was originally meant for PA/hifi applications. It's oversized for its ratings, uses interleaving to reduce leakage inductance (better frequency response) and can easily handle the 34's or a pair of 6V6's.
