Next, I want to get some Boogafunk 1x12 Thiele cabs and give a home to an EVM-12S and an Altec 417H that I have. That should work out nicely.

I also have a 4x12 with 2 EVM-12s's and 2 WGS ET-65's that I'm using on my Express clone now.

It can get very loud....!
Are you using an open or closed back Avatar cabinet? The oversized cabinet makes sense to me based on what I am hearing with my small cabinets.
The Contemporary is only made closed...

Mine looks like this...

I have the same cab except in red tolex; loaded with two Celestion Greenbacks. Very warm, punchy, and brown sounding with a Plexi or JCM type builds. It's got that Marshall cabinet "knock".

You should really get one of these and an EVM12L.

I have a 15" version and it is hands down the best cabinet I own, and I play guitar and Bass.

A great sounding 2x12 is the Z Best cab loaded with scumbacks. will compete with a stock 4x12. I have tried EV12's and they are too constipated for the Wreck style amps. Maybe they work well with a Dumble 100w. ASW has a new 2x12 rear ported cab and their speakers cannot be topped. Excellant for the Wrecks. 8)

I played my weekly Thursday gig with my 1 x 12 last night. Every speaker cabinet I play through makes the amp sound totally different, but always very good.

For this session, a 2 x 12 would be a little better. The 1 x 12 with the Scumback breaks up early and sounds pretty good, but I don't get any more volume after about half power and I could use a little more, but it is amazing what you can do with infinite sustain. A little on the dark side tonally. That should work well for my other band because I am mic'ing up through the PA and lower stage volume makes my soundman very happy.

The 4 x12 with V30s is extremely loud, bright and doesn't break up much, pretty much the opposite end of the spectrum.

More experimenting to come. I am looking for the middle of these two extremes.

You will have to call them. Ask for Ron. Tell him Billy Z posted about his new 2x12 cab. They really look sharp, kind of Hiwatt ish with a convertible rear oval port. Solid Pine , ply baffles. Solid Pine really sounds great for guitar cabs and lighter weight to boot. They are not too good at updating their website, but they make great speakers. Everytime I go there I learn some new speaker tricks too.

Ron is the expert.

btw, I am not a paid salesman for them either. no compensation of any kind or have any financial interest in ASW.

I haven't tried it with an Express-type amp, but I would never think to describe by EVM-12L-loaded TL-806 as "constipated." But I'm not sure I understand what you're describing. Too stiff or tight? Not enough compression? I've actually had good experience with my cab opening up an amp that was otherwise a bit pinched or small sounding.

I am a big fan of the tl806 cab, in fact the Z best 2x12 is modeled after one.
I also like EV speakers, But. I find them to be too stiff to respond well to a wreck or lower powered amps for guitar. I think they need more power to get moving and stop moving with a low damped tube amp. I spent a week breaking one in for an express and it never would open up like a proper celestion or like. The EV cone is very heavy and they are rated for around 200w( voice coil weight). just put one next to a greenback and feel the difference in cone compliance.

Just my 2 pennys, ymmv.

Yeah, I completely agree with billyz here on his take of the EV12L for a stock Express. I could never get this to 'work' and believe me I tried.

.............But then I added a MV, the LarMar type. Here I just think that this MV - and EV12Ls in the EV style cab work well. I know it must seem a contradiction, that the added weight of the cone and the tightness of the EV construction/mag could fail at full Express power, but then perform well when the power is reduced, but, well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Knowing that it actually does work well, I can see that there really isn't a contradiction here. What I hear happening is that what the MV robs from the OT, I see the EV/+cab making up for. Maybe its the dampening factor that billyz refers to? Maybe with the MV engaged, this interaction is altered for the better. Whatever the science is saying, the thump of the EV12L/TL806 is a real plus with the MV engaged, and not so much a plus with the Express in its stock form.
Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?

To me, it really depends on volume. Now that I have some hours on my Scumback speaker, it is sounding pretty thick and righteous. I use a 1x12 and mic up through the PA with a 57. I have enough volume to get the amp going, but not so loud that my soundman can't balance out the overall mix without running everyone out of the bar. If you need more stage volume, go with a 2x12. On mine, I can't really crank a 4x12 loud enough to hit the sweet spot without blowing everyone out of the room... but it is a lot of fun.

I guess the scumback has a break-in period even if you order it broken in. Not a bad thing if it saved a couple of hundred hours. I have about 30-40 hours on it now.

IMHO, the trainwreck sound (at least mine) is a little smoother than the EVH sound, although not in a completly different universe. You may have to use a pedal to push the gain a little harder.

I'm planing to install a powerscale system also into my amp,to keep up with volume.

(it is my first build and I never used iron tool before so I'm slow)

I can use a booster pedal,I was asking for a advice cuz from my exp some cabinets have deep and strong low end and sound more metalish than other(that's why I mentioned orange)

There are many speakers out there, but i too have tried the EV, and have to say i didn't get it either. I tried it in a same cab, same amp test. The speaker i tried was a fane medusa 150L.
Fane in a same type cab,the fane EAT the EV for breakfast. Better everything, clean, crunch bottom to top. It was one of those no contest things. Some i have talked to like the 100 even better than the 150. and some like the Alnico ones. The 100 specs seem very good, and probably even more to my liking.

http://www.fane-acoustics.com/medusa_series.aspx

One of our members is the USA distibutor. He probably knows much more about them.

I also wonder after seeing some concerts of guitarist i know, using the EV speakers loaded in there cabs, how much better they would sound using the Fanes.

It would interesting to try the Fane. At 103dB, you get a lot of volume per watt.
