I'll never relate to the need for the power cord to be directly attached to the chassis but I can go with the flow in supplying what is needed.

I have only once wished the cord was attached to my amp head. I went to a gig and had everything in my gig bag except the power cord for my head. We ended up stealing a power cord from a computer in one of the offices at the venue where we were playing. It was a close call though.......
ah the ultimate build would be the one that accounts for human failings as the body grows older and the brain cells grow fewer... so many things to remember - tuner, extra strings, cords, speaker cables, song list, picks... oh yeah where is my guitar.
but you do point out one of a few things I like about IEC plugs, they are uniform and plentiful. I did find some really sweet 15 footers and I always try to keep at least one extra power cable somewhere in my bag of cords.
we used to have a bass player that had trouble finding his car after every gig, but that was sorta different...
So as I go to work here trying to identify and stock Express and Liverpool components I didn't see any coupling caps listed on the BOM... now I remember why I hesitated to offer a kit. Anyway, the rumored holy grail coupling caps are sometimes said to be the PVC mallory... but not the current production orange drops from sprague - does anybody agree? I'd love to track down some of these and see if I can get them in large quantities. Can anybody help?
I built my express from the ceriatone kit. I ended up upgrading the caps and OT (heyboer) later, but other than that, I've been happy with it.
What I would say is follow the information here explicitly, don't just go off of Nik's wiring diagram. I didn't know a) this place existed and b) trainwrecks were challenging builds when I bought my kit, and it took about a year to get it to where it is now. It worked the first week, it's the clean up that took the time since. (And it's still only 90% there.)

RJ-
Yes, the coupling caps are the CDE PVC series available from onlinecomponents.com. They are identified clearly as such on lines 9-11 on the BOM spreadsheet.
