Recognizable Artists/Recordings using 'Wrecks?

Post by MooreCowbelle »

Hey folks,

I lit the candle on my new wreck express ("Sugar") at band practice yesterday...LOUD LOUD LOUD...earplugs suddenly appeared out of nowhere... Rave Reviews none the less. I threw on a 25 watt Mass for a few moments, but I didn't want to risk overheating either the Mass or my bandmates'/wife's ears, so I shut 'er down for the day. Oh well, back to the 18 TMB 8)

ANYWAYS, I ramble: One question that came up was "Well that is really cool, but what artists use(d) this amp? What recordings would I hear it on?" I couldn't answer the question!!!??!!

Anyone have any ideas? I know Ken has been quoted to say "There are artists in the Musicians Hall of Fame that got there on Trainwrecks." or something like that.

Iirc, there are some Bryan Adams cuts...though which tracks is a question. Bold claim on KF's part. How many did he ever make?

Were you running EL-34's or 6V6's ?

There are some previous posts here on this, but the biggest sampling I know of is the defunct Christian band Novella. Pretty good band. First cut is supposed to be Tele through Rocket, most of the rest is a mix of Marshalls and Express with usually an ESP guitar. On the Bryan Adams stuff - supposedly the opening chords on the duet with Tina Turner.
Let that boy boogie woogie.

6V6 - and it was probably excessively loud because I botched the bias! I was wondering why the tubes were getting so dang hot... 38ma @ 400V is pushing it past the envelope. Luckily, I was testing with JJs, so they took the beating.

Cab is 2x12 "Avatar Clone" loaded with V30 & G12H30.
I have a pair of Sammi 50s that will get loaded into a new cab as soon as I get back from vacation.

Tested Sunday with some Mullard and Telefunken pre's; found a good mix that doesn't humm/hiss too much. Joy!

Man, this thing really wants to get up an go, if you know what I mean. Feedback is dense and quite controllable. Lots of swirling harmonics. Very nice.

here is a link ,and shows the Wreck . George seems to have used it in some recordings..or albums.

Not a fan of them, but metalica also used one on recordings.
