I got mine from Newark a few months back, had 2 leaky caps right off the bat, glad I stocked up...

what about the sbe 418p's that torres is selling, also what two rock used in the ruby. I think the sbe 417's are the same as the mallorys. Z uses them but I thik they are discontinued. None will sound horrible, just different. The mallorys were fine for the Komet......use some silver plated teflon wire to brighten them up a little

Just throw them in there, and tell us what you think. We have 150's at the PI, went with .047.
Good Luck

p.s. you may want to take a gander at this.

I would use 6PS but you going off with mallory 150's will give you a different sound. I depends on if you are trying to go after the KF version of the TW or you want your own version of the amp. Don't get me wrong I think the two rock amps are good but they have a different thing happening with the caps they use.

I have Mallory 150's in my UniWreck (an Express copy - built into a Univox chassis). Sounds great. I also have proper orange drops in my Express clone, and it sounds great. I can't say which I prefer, but I can say that there is no reason not to use the Mallory caps unless you are going for dead on "clone correctness".

I used Sozo's standard caps mostly and a few Mallory 150's in spots I didnt have the correct value. Sounds pretty awesome to my ears. It will peal paint and neuter small animals out to 100 ft.

Which caps? The Cornell Dubilier (orange) ones have a black bar but it bears no correlation to the outer foil. You need to test them yourself if you want to orient them specifically. On the Sozos it does though.

Mallory 150s are my favourite coupling cap for most amplifiers regardless.

ERO MKT1813
Sozo Standard
Mallory 150

are nice coupling cap alternatives to orange drops and they all have their own flavours.

look up the info on Trudy, that amp used different caps. I've built an amp ,and many others with those type caps, and they sound really good.
