Need a little help

Post by Blues Hound »

Finished my clone, but when checking voltages I am reading zero at the heaters, pins 2 and 7 on the power tubes and 4-5 and 9 on the pre amp tubes, any ideas?

are you measuring AC voltage? You should be. Are you measuring between the heater pins? And not to ground? You should be. What kinda PT did you use? What are your other voltages?

No Tubes

Tubes V4 and V54

Pin 1 = 0v DC
Pin 2 = 6.53v AC
Pin 3 = 393v DC
Pin 4 = 393v DC
Pin 5 = -25v DC
Pin 6 = 393v DC
Pin 7 = 6.53v AC
Pin 8 = 0v DC

Off the top of my head your numbers look good. Go put the tubes in and see how it sounds...

Well, I can think of about a dozen different snappy comebacks for that particular line, but I've been married for 12 years, so as usual, I'll keep 'em to myself! :)

You don't have to be married to have that sort of comments to a great sounding amp. A girlfriend is sufficient as I found out....

I found out the hard way that signal tracing doesn't sit well with my girlfriend... apparently she doesn't like the sudden random loud noises coming from the speakers...

I used to be like that. Care what the wife thought. No more. No wife. No aggravation. If a girlfriend says something about how loud or how often she gets ear plugs or I show her the door. What is nice about this system is I play more , louder, and get to be with lots of women. :D
