Orange drops?

Is there any reason to use the orange Mallory coupling caps in the pics of real Trainwrecks? Mouser and Allied Elec have them, they're not too expensive; thing is I dislike those Sprague 715 or 716P's in other projects I've built compared to Mallory 150's, are they similar or is the resemblance purely the orange color? The preference for 150's is based on building tweed types or replacing caps in blackface type amps, where I really don't like the OD's.

The Orange Drops used in the actual wreck are not 715's nor 716's. They are Mallory PVC's. See this thread:

The resemblance is only the color - internally they are similar to 150's I believe...

there are different types of orange drops. 715 and 16 are polypropylene. PS is polyester. Mallory 150s are metallized polyester.
