A fire extinguisher is always handy to have ready, ask my wife she tried to burn the house down years ago. Had a ham born boiling down on the stove and fell asleep. The boy woke her up and she went in and lifted the lid and fire. I was a couple blocks away when she called and I could see the flames reflecting on the side of the fridge as I came in. I grabbed the extinguisher and pulled the pin on the run and had it out in one choreographed move. Replaced the counter top, cook top and cleaned the sooty residue. Good to go.

In the 60's people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird , and they take Prozac to make it normal.
I wanna get a craftsman many drawer toolbox and spend a couple of days dividing it into component size slots with base molding and glue.
I got these plastic drawer boxes all over the place and I gotta go through every one of them to find certain parts. I don't know what I'm out of until I'm in the middle of a build so I just spend hundreds of bucks I don't need to spend being overstocked.
Last time I tolexed a box I had to use my tablesaw for a flat spot.
I think we're pretty much all birds of a feather. I don't like tools on the wall though. They go in a tray on the bench. The wall behind the bench has scopes and VTVMs and signal generators, and bench volt ohm meters and variacs and test glass. If you don't follow a dropped component down to the floor with your eyes you'll never find it. Get out another.
Oh, and how in the heck do you guys work from a bench with no knee space? I have a drafting chair with the right arm removed so you can play guitar sittin' there.

If you put the Federal Government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in five years time there would be a shortage of sand.

One place I worked had little cardboard tags tied to strings. The other end of the string was fastened (don't remember how) inside the drawer. When you used the last resistor, cap, whatever (or better yet, when you noticed there were only a few left) you flipped the tag so it hung outta the front of the drawer. Once a week or so, the parts gal would come through, note which tags were hanging out, and order completely different stuff than we needed
...but the little paper tags were doing their jobs

No way! I dropped it...I even heard it hit the floor...I can find it! Of course...ten minutes later I finally give up...get another resistor...clip it, shape it, solder it...and THEN I find the one I dropped.

Bench? Are you kidding? Ive got my amp cradle and soldering station perched precariously on an old 19-space rack case. All the tools, wire, etc are either in boxes next to the rack or on the base of the cradle. Not too good for the back but it works.
