Parts Values

Post by selloutrr »

I'm interested to learn if KF used random selected components or metered his parts for exact values i.e. a 100 ohm resistor, did it meter 96 ohms or was it hand selected to meter it's marked value?

I understand Ken measured his components rather than trusting them to randomly meet spec...

one might also meter them to be lower than spec,or a bit higher for a certian section..also pots and caps could be done similar.

so i guess the next question is ... and this brings me back to a post i made a while ago. the TW tone and the fact that KF tweaked it to be his own creation makes me wonder about values. has anyone gone threw and documented a TW amp for exact values? Pictures are great but still leave a +/- to the sound. if we could get the values there is nothing preventing someone from putting the tubes on an amplitrex printing out the characteristics and values and matching tubes to exact specs and being able to clone 100% tonal clones!
