an update for anyone interested:
I still have to order the power resistors. It's taking me some time to put together a list of other parts to order.
I got a chance to put everything back together along with a hum balance pot, a MOV and a proper shield plate and i don't know exactly what did what, but things have definitely gotten quieter.
The hum balance pot seems to control buzz more than hum right now, but buzz has generally been the bigger issue of the two. Plus, I have the hum balance pot right next to the PT, so it might be picking up hum straight from the source.
Overall, the amp is coming along great. Out of all the amps I own, she's the most fun to play.
Hopefully, with new power resistors and experimenting a little more with the heaters, I'll be able to get her quieter still.

Good to know!
We'll have to get together and compare our TWs and see how they might differ.
I just might wind up cloning yours.

mines 'quieter', but not 'quiet' yet. I still have a ways to go. baby steps. but thanks for the confidence boost.Lonely Raven wrote:I just might wind up cloning yours.
I'm still down for comparing, or even if you want to come over and play loud for a while. I used to live above an older couple that would get angry if we watched tv at night so I know how it goes. Then, I made it a point to move somewhere that I could have band practice. I'm much happier now. they probably are too.
