LED tipped mini toggle bright switch in Express?

I was wondering if you all think there would be any noise problems with this part (on-none-on, bi-color LED red/green) in an express.

I know this place is awful sensitive in these amps. But, from my experience LED's are pretty quiet. I would guess as long as you supplied power with a shielded wire and routed it near the chasis and away from the bright caps you'd be fine.

Let me know what you guys think. I requested a few for "samples" and maybe I'll just try it out and let you guys know the real deal. If you don't think it's worth it or have done it in the past. Please let me know.

I was planning on putting one of these in and changing the Pilot light to a fender style.

Thanks!

You won't need shielded wire but you'll need very quiet DC as it's going to be running right alongside the contacts inside the bright switch.

It also means you're going to have to have an additional board of some description to give you a DC supply for the LEDs, which adds to the complication.

But, having said that, you can make it work if you want to.

I was thinking of taking off the 5V feed from UR12's Fast/Gradual footswitch kit. It has a small regulated power supply board that feeds the switcher, and I was thinking of taking a parellel set over to the switch.

That should work nicely. I was already thinking of that myself but it seemed a bit of an overkill solution to buy the three-board set for this, unless you've got a Komet as well!

Regulated DC as supplied by Dana's board should ensure that you get no noise induced at the switch.

You could also run it off the 6.3V heater supply (just ensure that you don't ground the DC side of the regulator) if it's easier to wire to.

Yeah I want to implement a fast/gradual in my express so it can be a little more flexible. I love the touch sensitivity of the express and the gainy tone, but sometimes I'd like to tone it down for country/blues. So the gradual mode seems like a great feature.

I was thinking of using the 6.3V heater lines as well. I am putting in a hum balance control to try and tame some extra noise in this thing.

But with Dana's kit I might as well use it to its full extent.

I guess my amp wont be a perfect copy of a TW but Ken wanted us to make the amps better for ourselves!
