Mark, did you ever get this to sound good for you?

I just finished mine (Pedal Mule) and it is simply amazing... maybe not for everybody but I think everybody would say it sounds amazingly good. I did find a couple tweaks and I also used a Heyboer Dynaco 470 output tranny.

Just curious, I think this should be a good sounding amp.

FWIW - I tried every way in the world to hook up the NFB (more resistance - less resistance - other taps - etc..), it always sounded horrible. Otherwise the schematic was pretty similar in my build. Without it, it has great clean shimmering highs with a really full fat clean tone. If you push it hard you can make it break up but it's really cranking some sound at that point.

No I worked on this thing until I got tired of it and shelved it again.

I haven't worked on an amp in a 2 or 3 weeks, no energy to get much done.

Watching grand kids and family problems, plus preparing for my daughter's wedding in June. '

For a retired guy I'm busy.

So what is the correct cap and resistor values for the preamp of the Songwriter?

Which schematic shows the correct values?

in the schematic it looks like c8 would be sending all of the signal from that side to ground

Looking at the negative feedback you wouldn't think 200K from the 16ohm tap wouldn't have a huge effect. I suppose you could try the 4 ohm tap or put a pot in series with the feedback resistor?

You should find a sweet spot. I wonder if any of the later Rockets might have been built with negative feedback?
