Re: Anybody considered this?
-32 dB for the 1k and 50uF cap, and -38 dB for the 3H choke and 50uF cap, so 6 dB lower. Whether this is insignificant is in the ear of the listener, I suppose, and there is a trade of screen sag and ripple. Screen sag might reduce current draw and therefore the ripple when playing.
Re: Anybody considered this?
Thanks for the response, Martin.
After thinking about all these things I think I will try an actual choke in my parallel circuit. Hammond makes something that will work. Frankly I'm very curious if the ripple (that is negligible to my ear right now) will change anything.

Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?

Sure. Might as well try the choke and resistor in series too, for sag and low ripple. The results might be interesting. Richard Kuehnel (www.ampbooks.com) describes an experiment where the power supply of a 5F6-A was cleaned up, and the result was that all the magic seemed to be gone.

Probably true in the Express, too. That resistor gets hot, right?martin manning wrote:Sure. Might as well try the choke and resistor in series too, for sag and low ripple.
