25w Express Inspired Build

Post by Aaron »

No where near as nice as the amps on here, but here's my first Express build.
Had some old 60's Australian transformers laying around, 25w 6k6 A & R output and Ferguson power. Getting about 396v on the plates.

First impression is LOUD! But the tone is amazing :D Wow!!!!!

Quick question with my volume control, on .5 it's bedroom level, 1 is loud, 2 is gig volume and from there on is just tone!

Is this volume jump normal with these amps?

Aaron

P.S:- went with black and red cause that's what mum picked. And my wood skills are pretty basic.

The volume jump is normal. This amp was designed as a less loud version of the Marshall super lead 100W plexi. It is less loud compared to the Plexi... :D

Although I knew they were Loud amps, after I finished my Express, the volume was a shock.

Great looking amp!

I didn't even realize! I might change the front panel to maybe a white tolex now :D (nothing against Komet)

Nice work, sounds like you got it dialed in pretty well on the first go. Do you mind sharing a few internal images? It's always interesting to see how people put things together. With the Express amps they are famous for causing you grief if you deviate too far from the standard... but occasionally folks come up with some great ideas without paying a big penalty. Thanks for sharing, rj
