I noticed in the Express build guide and gut shots of Francesca that it is mentioned a "potential wiring error". They show that Ken wired the preamp tubes "out of phase" but they suggest wired it the other way. Has anyone tried it the way it is in Francesca?
Why did Ken wire it that way and is it not better to do it the way he did it or why not?

I believe this refers to the wiring of the heaters and does not make a difference IME.

Yes V1 and V2 appear to be wire out of phase in Francesca.vibratoking wrote:I believe this refers to the wiring of the heaters and does not make a difference IME.

I agree with Vibratoking. You read about it, about how you should be conscious of the filament connection and their 'phase', but I've never heard a problem. Fender never paid it any attention, and in fact, in my youth, had many aha moments where I thought I would correct this 'problem' on a Fender product and the amp would become magically transformed......but it never did anything sonically noticeable. Waawaa.
All this said, when you build one yourself, you always 'do the right thing'. Arrg, you can't stop yourself.

Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?
